In-school Youth Apprenticeships

Paid on-the-job training for Baltimore high schoolers.

Hands-On Career Experience

The Apprenticeship element connects Baltimore City students with registered youth apprenticeships, which combine in-school learning with paid hands-on experience at a job site. Coordination of this element is offered right through Baltimore City Public Schools. Career Coaches are available as early as middle school to help students explore career options. In high school, prospective apprentices and their Career Coaches will work together to apply for this element, beginning a journey to sustainable employment and/or higher education in high-demand, high-wage fields.

Apprenticeships are offered in partnership with the Apprenticeship Maryland Program, aligning with the state’s Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.

Healthcare is a popular career track for apprentices. Anchor institutions hosts paid nursing apprentices, offering real-world, hospital-based training. This hands-on experience is integral to career preparedness and paves the way for graduates to earn further education and credentials through programs like Grads2Careers and Stackable Credentials.
