Proven Academic Growth
The Academic Acceleration element is designed to help students attain their career goals by boosting their math and reading skills, as needed, to enter their desired career training program. Each career training program has distinct minimum requirements.
Training may also include life skills, like financial literacy and interview role-playing.
Under CareerBound, Academic Acceleration access will begin as early as the summer before 9th grade. This is an expansion on the current Summer Prep model, which launched in 2018 to serve prospective Grads2Careers students.
This model has a proven track record for success. In Summer 2023, 94 percent of students increased their math and/or reading scores by at least one full grade between their entry and exit assessments.
How It Works
Students are recommended for this element through in-school or pre-training assessments
Coursework may support classroom learning or focus on the knowledge needed to pass a training entry assessment, as required
Academic Acceleration programs are free for participants
Students are paid for their time
